A Great Place To Grow

Natural Wonders Montessori & Nursery School

Last updated:  Sunday, February 21, 2010

Text Box: February is starting on a sad note...we just found out that Paula’s sore back is actually a fractured vertebrae. Naturally she needs to rest & recouperate and will need a few weeks before she can return to teaching. We are hoping to assist her with some meals, so any ideas or recipes for low-glycemic/ diabetic-friendly meals would be welcome! We will also send her your warm wishes for a speedy recovery.

Of course I am happy to cover in the interim. (although there have already been a few complaints in class that I’m working them too hard!) ☺ However I had already booked a trip to Whitehorse to visit my sister during an Air Canada sale the other month, and I will be away from Feb 17th - Mar 4th. We have already started contacting our supply teachers & will let you know who will be teaching in the Montessori class during my absence.

Our main theme this month is People of the World, and we will be talking about similarities/differences, basic needs, languages, cultures, occupations, etc. One aspect will be the people in our neighbourhood, and we will be taking walks around Beeton learning about who lives & works here.

Parents: Feel free to share any information you have about other cultures, (ie. food, language, songs, pictures, traditional dress, etc.) either just with your child at home or with everyone at school!

We will be having a special circle time for Valentine’s Day & children will be encouraged to give valentines to their friends, they may also bring a few small treats (approx. 3-4) to share during snack time on Friday the 12th! (we make up an assorted tray)

Monday February 15th is Family Day. We will be closed that day & hope that you will enjoy the extra time with your family.

Keep smiling & have a Happy Valentine’s Day…

A Boy & A Girl:

Just a boy & a girl in a little canoe
& the moon is shining all around.
As they dip their paddles, they
didn’t even make a sound.

So they talked & they talked ‘til the moon went in & he said, “You’d
better kiss me or get out & swim!”

So you know what to do in a little
canoe when the moon is shining
all-a, the moon is shining all-a,
the moon is shining all around…

Get out and swim!

*And finally…
We are thinking of running a parent evening in March/April about Enhancing Your Child’s Education.

This would be an open forum, with idea sharing & time for discussion. We’re hoping to have a couple of public school teachers attend too!

We’re looking at a Wednesday evening. Let us know if this interests you.
