I am the co-owner of Natural Wonders Montessori & Day Nursery.  My journey up to the present day started at the School of Natural Resources, where I met my beautiful wife Joy.  Little did I know that I was being prepared to run a nursery school even in college.   I have both my Technologist & Technician diplomas, in Parks & Forest Recreation.

 

My passion you could say is… trees.  I love everything to do with them.  I continued from college to acquire 10 years of horticulture experience, from landscaping to retail.  I am now using this experience to teach the children at our school.

Many mentors have taught me in the past about successful business and personal ethics.  Both my parents and friends taught me that children are simple; it is adults who make things complex.  Sometimes the simple things are missed in life and it takes a child to point it out to us.

I am not sure who benefits more, the children or myself!

           Welcome to our school...I’m Joy and together with my husband Paul, we own & run Natural Wonders Montessori & Day Nursery.

           Looking into my background I have had many years experience working with young children (especially those with special needs), and hold diplomas as an Early Childhood Educator, Montessori Preschool Teacher & Montessori Special Needs Educator. (completed in Canada & at the London Montessori Centre in England)

           In 1997 after six years living/working in Britain, I departed Scotland to travel around the world, visiting children’s projects in Europe and Asia.  During this time I taught Aromatherapy and Massage at the Helen Keller Institute for Deaf blind children in India, volunteered at a centre for people with neurological problems in Slovenia, and researched children’s projects throughout Europe. 

           Finally I returned home, married my best friend, became the owners of this little school, and now we share the privilege of working in possibly the most positive work environment of all.

If you were to have asked me as a child what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have answered, “to teach little children!” 

I followed that passion informally throughout my life, until I realized the dream in graduating the top of my class in Early Childhood Education in Saskatchewan, in 1990. 

Over the years I have worked in numerous child care and early childhood programs, including a signed English educational interpreter for several years. 

In 2005, after spending the previous year as a nanny, I planned, organized achieved a license to run my own early learning centre through a charity organization within an inner-city in Saskatchewan.

My husband and I were married in 2003 and three years later we relocated to his home province of Ontario and we now reside here in Beeton. 

I am thrilled to be a part of the Nursery program here at Natural Wonders.  The little ones teach me so much about living, learning and laughter.  Each child is such a treasure, I cannot wait to meet your little one!  Welcome!  Paula
