Nimble, strategic graphic design, illustration and creative services—spanning a broad range
of clients from compact entrepreneurial ventures to large complex organizations.

A seasoned graphic designer, my experiences wind through print and product design, magazine and photography art direction, technical illustration and 3D rendering, as well as video creation and animation. Great design solves problems, engages viewers and delights users. It doesn’t matter if it’s print, online or an experience—understanding how information is absorbed and retained is my key to developing compelling, relevant work.

I’ve written over 70 magazine articles and have been recognized by the National Magazine Awards for my how-to stories. I write and edit a broad array of materials—from compelling headlines and copy that engages and sells, to technical manuals that inform and instruct. I write scripts, reports and strategic copy that influences readers and viewers. My instructional writing style is one of clarity, breaking down complex procedural instructions into easily understood concepts.

Throughout my career I’ve loved teaching. Recently, teaching has taken a more formal turn—at the University of Calgary I develop course curriculum and teach mastery of Adobe Illustrator both in class and online. As an Instructor with The Training Company, I guide students through one-, two- and three-day courses working with Adobe’s Creative Suite. As an expert woodworker, I design projects and procedures and conduct weekend workshops that have introduced thousands of adults and kids to new tools and techniques. I also love presenting—on stage at shows talking about woodworking or building techniques and making television appearances to promote DIY projects and events.
